INGA D. LEWIS-SHANNON is the founder and director of Project Rebuild Foundation, LLC, a non for profit organization whose primary goal is rebuilding the family and community by eradicating and preventing truancy. Lewis-Shannon is a permanent Judge Pro tem of the Gary City Court. Under the direction of Gary City Court Judge, Deidre Monroe, she presides over the Second Chance Drug Court and the Do or Die Program. Lewis-Shannon was a founding member of the Second Chance Drug Court Team, the first Drug Court in the State of Indiana. She initially served as a public defender. She is also a practicing attorney in Gary, Indiana, concentrating in the areas of business litigation, municipal, corporate, and family law.
Prior to her judicial appointment, Lewis-Shannon served as a Public Defender in the Gary City Court.
Lewis-Shannon is active in numerous Bar Associations including the Lake County Bar Association, Kimbrough Bar Association, National Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association. Lewis-Shannon is a 1993 graduate of DePaul College of Law School and a 1990 graduate of Indiana University.
An active community member, Lewis-Shannon participates in numerous organizations including the NAACP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Interfaith Prayer Power Pool and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Lewis-Shannon is married to Christopher Shannon and they have a son Christopher, Jr. and daughter, Lydia.
